>PCI ATI Mach 64 2D video card. Is this card any good ? How much RAM
>does it have ?

The Mach64 a 2D card with 2MB RAM upgradable to 4MB with a
proprietary ATI memory module. I found the upgrade for $12 in a
discount bin for mine.

In the late 90s the Mach64 had a better 2D engine than ATI's 3D
cards, but I don't know if that remains true. 2D cards are perfectly
great for desktop work (finder, surfing, word processing,
spreadsheets).

However, Hardware 3D acceleration is required if you're a serious
gamer. There's a big huge awesome difference between my ATI Mac64 and
my ATI 3D pro when playing 3D games. Side by side it's amazing what
hardware 3D does for moving water, textures mapped to walls and
floors, and keeping Laura Croft from standing inside solid objects.
