I don't know how I did it but everything is running again. Don't know if I've
solved the crashing problem yet as I haven't been using it hard since Monday.

I agree but it is supposed to be a new drive. The only thing I can think of is
that it wasn't formatted as an HFS+ and I don't know why the tech did that.

Yes, I now have to boot my computer up by pushing the power button on the tower
which is on the floor. Damn inconvenient but doing a forced reboot will take a
contortionist.

That's the part that is driving me nuts. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to
my crashes. At first I thought it was Photoshop doing it. Then after the
computer has been on for awhile. But it has crashed at other times too.
Sometimes it won't boot up and sometimes it will.

I don't have a 9.1CD. I have the 9CD and a 9.1 update CD. I tried to install 9.1
and it won't let me. In fact installing anything on this computer is a trial and
tribulation. I've solved most of the problems by installing software on one of
the two other drives and then copying it over to the main drive. At first I
thought it was my antivirus software preventing installation but I've turned it
off and still had installation problems. I've never had a problem like this with
a Mac before. Installing was a piece of cake, a couple of clicks. Sometimes if I
do manage to install something directly on the HD it has frequent freezes for
the rest of the day.

I'm coming to the conclusion that reformating is my next step. Hopefully this HD
will reformat as a HFS+. Does make me feel less secure with people who are
supposedly licensed Apple techs.
