Greetings,

Thanks for the help I've received on these lists in
the past. Today's problem is somewhat of a puzzle.

I have a 7300/200/256 running 8.6 that I have upgraded
to a PL FowerForce G3 375/512k. When it works, it
works well.

The problem is this: it locks up, and then, when
rebooting, refuses to get past the startup screen
after I have been using it for 2-3 hours. If I shut
it down and let it sit for 2-3 more hours, it will run
fine again (for another 2-3 hours).

So far, I have

1) deinterleaved the RAM
2) removed the 2 16 and 1 32 mb dimms that came with
the machine.
3) removed the onboard cache
4) took out my USB PCI card.

My guess is that this is a heat issue. The software
that came with the upgrade reports a max temperature
so far of 11 degree Celsius, which is NOT how cool I
keep my home (at least at this time of year).

Questions:

1) Would adding another fan make a difference?

2) Would reinstalling the system software make any
difference?

3) Any other ideas?

Thank you for your help!

Wm Voelker
