I know what you mean, and I agree. It's just that kids now'a'days are so
lazy (I would know, I'm 18). They're so used to everything being layed out
for them. But that's the way the world is going. As time goes by machines
are going to be doing more and more of the work that we used to do. Soon we
won't even be bathing ourselves...we'll have machines that do that for us.
:oP Whether it's good or not is not really for me to say... On one hand I
think it gives me more time to focus on other things; like my dancing, my
writing, or the films I'm working on. But that's just me :oP

When I was a teacher (K-3 grades), I made my students memorize facts.
Calculators can lose power, batteries, get misplaced or forgotten.
Must know what you're doing. My mother likes taking me shopping with
her so I can let her know quickly what she'll pay when they list what
percent off. It seems like most teachers now don't care if kids know
the facts, as long as they have their calculators handy. I'm all for
understanding the concept, but calculations in head are important
too. I must be showing my age. >>
