<I just did a complete clean install of system. In fact, I just reinitialized my original hard drive, as I added a new hard drive and used Raid on them, as a mirror with half the original drive for the system and as a striped Raid for Photoshop scratch. New memory added, too. But I had tried using PS 6 just before I ordered the memory and drive and it wouldn't scan then either. That's why I figured I needed to order the memory in the first place.
Carolyn> In that case, it could be the driver for your scanner. If it isn't compatible with your version of system software, it isn't immediately obvious. It might begin to scan and not complete the operation, or display other strange behavior. Can you check your scanner mfg's website for the latest driver software? My old Microtek's latest driver won't run on systems past 7.5.x. I tried it with 8.1, and it completed the first pass on a color scan before crashing my system. It would have been easier to diagnose if it just didn't work at all. So it took much longer to figure out. Good luck. --Tom -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
