I'm looking for an ATA card for my old 7600 that will support a big (> 40GB)
drive and an IDE CD-ROM. Ideally the card would allow the Mac to boot from
either the attached HD or CD. Right now the machine has the original 1.2GB
SCSI drive and a 4x SCSI CD-ROM drive.

I looked at the Sonnet ATA100 card and it supports booting from the HD, but
doesn't support CD drives. It's also expensive--I've seen PC ATA100 cards
for $50 or less and the Sonnet cards run $100-120.

Currently I'm using this machine as a headless MP3 player in my home stereo,
controlled with a Keyspan DMR and Timbuktu. Because of the limited storage
on the internal drive, I have it mount a folder on another Mac via file
sharing, but that's a pain because whenever the server gets rebooted, I have
to connect to the 7600 via Timbuktu and remount the server. Hence the need
for permanent storage on the 7600.

I also want to install a faster CD drive so I can use it as an occasional CD
ripping station without growing old waiting for the CD to be read.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,
