None of the computer repair places will recommend doing this for me
as they say their time will cost too much. A friend says get a TV
repairman. Do you have any ideas? Guess I don't know if they
would be any cheaper.

So I should just toss this nice monitor out - a Sony Trinitron, sob, sniff -
that may work fine except for the cord?
