FWIW a friend of mine bought a 15 (about $20) FireWire PCI card for
his PC and it sucks. It's not worht buying cheap cards. It also was not
Oxford 911 compatible (we tested 2 CD-RW drives, on Ox900 one Ox911 and
the 900 worked fine but not the 911) and so didn't run his CD-RW drive
he built. Initially we susoected Windows as his CD-RW (Lite-on
24x10x40x) worked fine FW on an iBook but we discovered the card was
crappy when he got it to go fine on a D-Link FW card. I get this
impression cheap FW cards are not worth the silicon they are printed in.
