------------
No question about it. If you are buying the Promo chips, test
them one at a time before using them. Don't just drop them all into a
computer that is doing important work.
My theory is they have a trigger point and when the
percentage of defectives gets too high they throw them on special
because I bought a batch of16 chips that had three defectives in it
and almost immediately after that they had a promo on them....

-------------
Not fed up with Velocity here but then I have a test computer
that does specialized things like test RAM. I buy the promo chips and
drop them, one at a time, into a 9600/200 and run Tech Tool Pro's
first 9 RAM tests on it. That seems to get the bad ones. Often,
however, the computer won't even start up with the bad ones. Not sure
I would do this if I had to do it in one of my upgraded and
accelerated graphics workstations....
Main thing is Velocity says their RAM is guaranteed for life
and they have never given me any static about returning it.
