James: It depends on what type of satellite connection you're talking about -- which setup are you looking at? What company? One-way or two-way?
You can usually set up a proxy server on your PC, and connect via proxy to the internet, but high-speed satellite ain't all it's cracked up to be -- I can tell you from experience. The problem with satellite connections is that there is a ridiculous amount of latency in the connection, so if you're looking to do any online gaming/phonecall/etc., forget it. And, the two-way connection can be pretty buggy -- we used to have about a 70% failure rate on file integrity when sending out attachments. Plus, it's not cheap to set up, either. The plus side is that downloading is fast, usually -- 45-70k per sec. was what we saw on our connection. Let me know if you'd like more info.
