Like Jeremy said the Geoport modem isn't supported anymore, IIRC since 8.5. But
what I did when I had a 4400 with a Geoport modem and I had OS 8.5 installed is
that I installed the 'Apple Telecom' software which resides at the Mac OS 8.0 or
8.1 CD. That s/w installs the things you need to connect to the internet with a
Geoport modem.
If you don't have that CD I can compress that installer and put it online for you
if it isn't too big.
