One of the more annoying things about the freezing of 9.1 on older PPCs is that software updates no longer works. CarbonLib 1.5 is available, separately, and is officially supported for OS 9.1, so I would encourage installing it. But, SWU does not alert you and provides no direct way to download and install it.
BTW, I see that the beta developer version of CarbonLib is now at 1.6, so there's another one on the way, soon. Also, just installing the latest CarbonLib does not provide the speed up of Carbon apps that 9.2 does. For example, I already had CarbonLib 1.4 installed when I did the 9.2.1 update. Just the extension provided no improvements, the OS update did. The USB support does seem to be older from the downloads; 1.4.1 vs 1.5.6 for adapter card support, for example. What sort of devices are you using on the USB card? You could always backup your current extensions and try the new ones. One significant hurdle may be that some seem to come from 9.2.1, some from 9.2.2 and some from iTunes 2.0.4. If you have them installed on a machine running 9.2.2, it's a simple copy. If not, that's a whole lot of d/loading and tome viewing for a couple of KB of files. If you'd like, I could email you a stuffit archive of them.
