It's possible that the MSN DSL needs PPPoE software to work, like my
Ameritech DSL does, but the PPPoE software will autologin for you.

It's also possible that the MSN DSL isn't actually an internet
connection, but a connection to the Microsoft Network, which has
access to the internet, but isn't really the internet, in the way
that AOL connections used to be connections to AOL's network, thru
which one could get *to* the internet, but one wasn't actually
connected to the internet.

If that's the case, then you'll have to run whatever software they
give you to provide OpenTransport with a MSN stack, and that sounds
yucky.

Call their tech support line and ask how the connection works,
whether it's PPPoE or something else. While you're at it, ask if they
packet filter your connection in any way, and if there are
restrictions on being able to have a server (such as a web or mail
server) on your DSL.
