Yep, that's a slot for Level 2 Cache-on-a-stick. If you find a 256k stick for a few dollars, it'll make the 7300 a good sight (ten or twenty per cent) faster. Bigger sticks are rarer and cost more money and are less "worth it". Leave this bugger empty if you plan to put a G3 board in 'er. >2. To the right of memory slot B4 there's another slot labled 'Rom Simm'. >What's it for? A ROM SIMM, of course. Basically, it's there to confuse newcomers. Apple stuck this socket on the motherboard to allow themselves the possibility of a user-installable ROM upgrade for god knows what purpose, but they never used it. the rule is: THOU SHALT NOT FROB THY ROM SIMM SLOT. IF THOU HAVEST A ROM SIMM, SO IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND EVER WILL BE. SHOULD THOU HAVEST NOT, SUCH IS THE WILL OF HEAVEN, AND IS NOT TO BE QUESTIONED. :-) -Tyler -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
