Hmm, that's not all that helpful. FWIW, to clarify, 8.6 IS a free upgrade. When 8.6 was released, the only way to get it was from Apple (download or $$ for CD). MacAddict got all bent out of shape, because that was the first update that Apple did not allow mags to distribute on their software CDs -- a major bummer for those of us who didn't have a high-speed conx to download through. Fortunately, the MUGs were allowed to distribute it -- I ordered the ApplePI monthly CD, just so I could get my hands on the update. :-) I'm not certain about your other two points, but the 8.5.x point is moot, based on above.
