I have a WGS 7350 that makes a similiar high-pitched noise. I, too, am reasonably sure it is *not* the HD. Does yours do it at any particular time? For example, mine sometimes does it when I depress the mouse button and more frequently when I depress the buttons on my trackball. This is especially noticable when selecting text or dragging scroll bars. It often seems to fade away while the button is held down and peak when the button is released.
A friend of mine who works in the IS dept. says he's encountered it a number of times, and suspects it to be something in the circuitry. If this seems implausible, listen to your Indiglo watch the next time you light it up. You'll hear a whine (if your ears are sensitive enough) despite the fact that there are definately no moving parts in a digital watch! I still want to boot it up off a CD with no HDs connected, just to rule that out. It's at it as I'm typing this message. Any insights or ideas would be appreciated by those of us with radar ears.
