The very recently discontinued ATI Radeon Mac Edition PCI is a great choice for 3D gamers and performance geeks. This RME card has a second millenium (i.e. modern) graphics processor that is still supported by its manufacturer and new games developers. The otherwise fine 3Dfx VooDoo 3000 cards mentioned by many posters are not graced with such support. ATI's currently offered PCI Radeon card, the 7000, runs excellently on the 6500's sibling, a 20th Anniversary Macintosh (TAM). However, I can't recommend this card for a 6500 without reservations. While the R7000 offers dual monitors on one PCI card and operates (with OpenGL 1.2.2) from MacOS 7.6.1 through OS X, the R7000 lacks the 3D performance of the Radeon Mac Edition, and ATI supports the R7000 only for MacOS 9.2 and later on G3s after Beige. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
