Hey, thanks!  I think that was indeed the problem, since before I 
couldn't get JPEGs to even work as the desktop picture, now they work 
fine.  I reckon it's ok to go back to my old themes?  I sure hope so, 
Platinum is looking rather bland!

Thanks again!  Wish me luck, I'd hate to go through that scary ordeal again.
