>Welcome aboard. >I have a Newertech G4/400 in my 7500. >big improvement. >I bought my upgrade before they went bankrupt. >I also have OS 9.1 on it. >That is the last OS upgrade for the PCI macs.
The last official upgrade anyhow. >I have read on this list that you can goto 9.2 if you know how to hack it. 9.2 is a bad bad bad idea. It has had a lot of the support for legacy Macs pulled to make it faster in OS X, as it's only intended to be used as a Classic environment on G3/4 machines. If you buy a currently supported G4 upgrade from XLR8 or Sonnet (I am not aware of the status iof support for others) you can run OS X on it, just buy lots of RAM before you do - about 512MB is the right amount to start with, even on a G4. You will also need a supported Grpahics card to run OS X, either a PCI ATi Rage 128 based card or a PCI ATi Radeon card. -- -- Mark Benson SilValleyPirate - AIM silicon_valley_pirate_uk - Yahoo!
