If you open up the printer and take out the ink cartridges, you should see some contact mechanism for the printer sensing if ink cartridges are installed or not. This is sometimes an arm that is moved when the cartridge is installed or some sort of mechanism that is moved when the cartridge is put in its place. The contact sensor can also be two metal studs that contact a metal plate on the ink cartridge to close an electric circuit. It's possible that the sensor needs to be replaced or the contacts need to be cleaned. Also, if you find the two wires that hook up to this mechanism, you can simply connect them together (metal wire to metal wire) to make sure that you don't have this problem in the future. Your printer is long out of warranty.
Last, its possible that high humidity could help. I sometimes need to boil water (1-2 gallons) in the winter to get my ink jet printer to unclog and it could be that your jets are clogged, even though new, and the printer senses cartridges by trying to jet ink onto a thermal sensor. Hope _one_ of these suggestions helps. Sincerely yours, Grizzlygiant Carl Kehley wrote: > > Still no luck getting either of the StyleWriters to work.
