I have never found a virus on a Mac either, but have found viri (?) from PC disks from wife, friends, schoolmates, etc. with Virex. I trust it better than anything else. It also tells me when resource forks are corrupted and when archives are corrupted. It's better than Norton Disk Doctor in many ways.
