Hello. I recently upgraded my PM 7200 with a 7500 motherboard and 200 MHz 604e. According to GuagePro the memory is now running at 28 MB/sec., which seems way too low. Just before I got the 200MHz card there was a 100MHz 601 installed, and the memory ran at 32 MB/sec. When it was a 7200 the memory also ran around 32. Also, I can't use the 256K cache card that was in the 7200 without degrading the memory another 4MB/sec.
I tried installing one stick of RAM at a time, interleaving, different slots with no change. All the DIMMs are 60ns, FPM. Is there something about the 604 family of processors that slows memory? I had a similar experience with my PM 9600/350, 604ev, which performed at 27MB/sec. until I interleaved identical 128MB DIMMs which brought it up to 37MB/sec. Any suggestions on how I can improve the memory performance, or which cache card won't degrade performance, will be much appreciated. Or does it really matter? -+-+-+- RPM -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
