I think way back when I learned Photoshop, I was paid something like $199 for a day or so of training by a small-town designer who desperately needed help with some of her smaller graphics tasks. On top of that, I got to stay on doing contract work for several years at a rate of nearly $20/hr. If you have an ounce of computer skill, and an ounce of creativity, and a pro willing to point out your mistakes, you can probably learn a lot more than some course.
