The card needs to be "OHCI" compliant.   Cards that are compliant 
will say so and/or indicate that they work on a Mac.   I've had an 
SIIG card for years with no problems at all.   Best recommendation is 
to buy one marketed as Mac compatible, as if it doesn't work you wont 
get "well it's not suppose to work in a Mac."
