Your first question: no, the 4400 CD-ROM is IDE, so you would have to connect it to an ATA controller if you put it in your 7300. But forget that I ever mentioned that. The 4400 has either an 8x or 12x CD-ROM, but the CD-ROM in the 7300 is already 12x. The thing I am talking about basically resembles an internal floppy drive in its size and shape. But it has USB and/or FW connectors on its face, a small hub controller inside, and FW and/or USB connectors on its backside. This allows it to be mounted in a standard 3.5" drive bay, after which it is plugged into the internal FW/USB ports of your PCI card. This gives you FW/USB ports on the front of your computer, rather than having to reach around back to plug in devices. RATOC sells one that is proprietary to their cards, but I have seen similar universal units on eBay really cheap. While I have yet to see this in action myself, I have done the measurements, and with a standard plain 4" cutout 7x00 bezel, the fit is nearly perfect. I plan on undertaking the task as soon as I actually have USB devices besides mouse & printer. -- --Chris PM 7500/604e 200Mhz 4 gig SCSI 256 megs OS 8.6 (This machine rocks!) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
