I hate to admit it, but with G4 next generation boxes getting down to $1000
and below, I'm tempted to quit adding cards and memory to my beloved 8500.
It might be smarter to wait a few months for the newer models with their
faster bus speeds and processors to drop below $1000. I guess it's just a
question of stubbornness and finances.

I kept my Mac 512k going with upgrades until I just had to have the Web;
about six years. After that, I kept my 6100 upgraded and usable for another
five years, until I bought an LCD monitor with a native resolution too high
for the 6100, and had to get my 8500. So please don't think I'm fickle.
Old Macs are wonderful.

If I do go with a next generation mac, my whole "keep it going as long as
you can" obsession will just transfer to the newer machine.
