That "dead" monitor is Crystal Scan 1776LE ?  (aka DX17F in FCC: id 
string).  If yes, Then you need to lug that thing to real repair shop 
and have them replace the horizontal transistor, pair of capacitors, 
another transistor, a low value resistor and inductor coil.  That 
coil available from Mag for 20 I think..  Check few other capacitors 
for age replace few if they're too old.  If width is not wide 
enough with horizontal width buttons at max range, replace another 
two capacitors.  It will work again.

That chassis is made by Mag.

Happened to mine few times over it's lifetime and still using it.  
Tube is good than most crap out there currently for tube's lifetime.
