Hello,
    I have a PowerMac 8500 using OS 9.1.
I have two problems which may be connected.
    1) I decided yesterday to play "Riven" which I've had for a long time
but never tried. I followed the instructions, putting in disc 1 to install
the program and then putting in disc 2 to play. Everything went fine, and I
proceeded with the game. I closed down after awhile and went to something
else. Today, I tried to go back to it, but now when I put in disc 2, I get a
note saying, "The application 'Riven' has unexpectedly quite because an
error of type 2 occurred." It tells me to restart the computer. I tried to
reinstall the program but that doesn't help.
When I restart the computer, I get a note," Quicktime Musical
instruments installation failed because the versions of QuickTime and
QuickTime Musical instruments do not match."
    I am using v 5.0.2 for QuickTime and v 2.5 for musical instruments. I
checked for updates, and my computer says everything is updated.
I rebuilt the desktop and zapped the pram to no avail.
    What has happened?
    Thanks

Wilton
