I've got an ST15150N in a 8600/G3/400 (was 8600/300). I never noticed it was particularly hot using Metronome as the gauge. Adding my G3 card and ATA card with another drive - now that's hot. I've installed a fan in one of the bottom PCI windows which puts it near the ATA drive which is installed on the bottom of the case. The fan works great and keeps things about 47C/116F. The ST15150N is a hefty drive though. The 8600/9600 machines are great and easy ones to upgrade!
