Yes, it does help. My thanks to you and Ying-Kit for coming up with what very likely is the right answer, to wit: the PowerCenter Pro has a PCI spec older than 2.1. I think that at this point if I want both FireWire and USB, I'll have to upgrade to one of the newer G4 Macs. No sense beating a dead horse, huh? ;-)
