Basically, I'm going insane trying to install OS X on a 10 G WD IDE drive
that's connected to a VST UltraTek ATA 66 card. It's all installed in a PM
7500. The IDE drive works just fine under OS 9.1. But when I use Ex Post
Facto to try to install to the OS X is when the fun begins. I've actually
made it all the way to the screen where you get to choose where to install
it. But the IDE drive is greyed out, and the only drive it'll allow me to
install to is my 4 Gig SCSI drive. I should note that the drive has already
been formatted as HFS+, and I've also performed the firmware upgrade on the
VST card. I've successfully installed OS X to a second SCSI drive, but I'm
not happy with the speed of the drive in the slightest (benchmark tests
under OS 9 with MacBench have shown that the IDE drive is twice as fast as
the SCSI).

So what gives? I'm told that this should be possible with this setup, but
I've beaten my head against the wall all weekend long, and am no further
along than when I started. Any tips or pointers to helpful websites?

Thank for any help you can give me.

John
