Absolutely. Phil Wong wrote me off list and said that in order to get
an RMA # for the drive, WD wanted a diagnostic error result code from
their Winskank-only setup program. (which obviously ain't gonna
happen).

What's with companies these days?

I have several vintage Macs with original HDs (Quantum, Seagate) with
40,000 plus hours that still run perfect to this day, and I leaned on
some of these machines pretty hard back in their heyday. All have
performed flawlessly to date.

I get 50/50 reviews from everyone I have spoken to about Maxtor. We
will see. It's running great *so far* (12 + hrs) :>)

Thanks to Phil and to all who responded to me off list.
