An example would be one which was specifically labeled "7200/100 ONLY DOS OK", meaning that this cache card was only for a 7200/100, but it would work with or without the Pentium 166 PC Compatibility Card. This cache card will not work in any other machine I have tried it in. I would speculate that the latest cache cards are probably suitable for most pre-G3 PCI Macs. I know for a fact that the latest 256 KB cache cards will work in an Apple Network Server (ANS) Model 700, which was normally supplied with a special 1 MB cache card. That 256 MB cache card will work in an ANS equipped with the standard 150 MHz 604e CPU board, or the special 200 MHz 604ev CPU board.
