I ran Netscape 4.79 just fine on a 7300/180 stock machine with just 96mb ram. Didn't seem particularly slow. This was at work where I live or die by the web. Did all my ordering etc. via the web. I recently upgraded my ram by 256mb and added a 450 G3 card and now it runs even better. I gave it lots of ram too.
