Hello.

I have a 7500/200 which was originally a 7200/120.

You will first need a ZIF carrier card to use a ZIF daughterboard. ZIFs
aren't native to old world Macs. The main advantage to to a ZIF carrier is
that you can later upgrade to a faster g3 or g4 ZIF without changing the
entire card.

The cheapest upgrade is to look for a 200 or 233MHz 604e processor card. I
found a 200 on eBay for $12. The speed difference from the old 601 processor
is quite noticeable, especially with games. Cache is problemetic with the
7500, though. I was not able to use the cache card from the 7200. If you plan
on upgrading with a g3 or g4, this problem will be take care of itself since
the cache is on the card itself.

There are 8 DIMM slots in the 7500, each of which can accept up to a 128MB
5-volt, EDO or FPM DIMM for a total of 1 gig of memory. Try to use 60ns or
faster. For best performance use matched pairs in A1 and B1, A2 and B2, etc.
This is called interleaving and it will speed up the memory, significantly in
many cases. Some upgrade cards don't like interleaving. The xlr8 ZIF Carrier
g4/450 in my 9600 works fine with it.

Tell me about it. Up until a year ago I was using a 16-year-old Apple IIc as
my primary computer. Took a bunch of reading and trial-and-error to catch up.
Spend some time around here and you will learn plenty.

Good luck.
