Anybody know where I can get a chart or description of what the dip-switch
values are, & how they relate to the internal jumpers, for a PLI Infinity
88 Turbo (an early 90's 5.25" SyQuest drive)?
I obtained 2 of these babies via dumpster diving, & snagged 3 good carts,
which I have formatted using Silverlining. I want to use the pair as a
sneakernet (running cable between floors being impractical in my digs.)
1 drive works fine. The other didn't want to mount anything & froze my
machine during a SCSI poll. Pulled it apart (I had vague ideas about
turning it into a hard drive enclosure), pulled out all the cables &
plugged them back in, & now it will mount carts, but it thinks they're all
locked! (They aren't -- physically or in software. They mount fine -- and
writeable -- on the good drive.)
I *think* I put the internal cables back as they were -- it's the same on
the other drive, as far as I can tell (the 2 have slightly different
internal layouts, tho'.) Silverlining can't seem to do anything about the
locking.
I have all the switches on both boxes set to "off", &, since this probably
shuts internal termination (if any) down, a block terminator. There is also
an ID selector wheel, which I've set to not conflict with my other SCSI
periphs, so I don't think it's an ID or termination conflict.
Oh, BTW, the good 1's ROM is rev. D2B, the bad 1's is BBA, for what it's
worth. Are they flashable, I wonder?
Googling, I found "pli.com" to be "Pacific Legal Investigations, Inc.",
also got the URL to Gamba's site's drivers (I was hoping they'd have docs
that talk about the switches), came up 404.
Thanks in advance,
