I've just acquired Yamaha CD-RW 8X4X24 with 2HD-50 connectors SCSI-1 and
SCSI-2 on the back. Which one I can plug in with my PM7500, OS 9.1,
G3/350/1gbL2? If I want to burn musics from my original CD's, which toast
version i need, 4.02 or 5?

The 8824S and 8424S are SCSI-3 as to their command set, but the basic drive
(if one were to open up the case) is SCSI-1 (narrow).

The case comes with two SCSI-2 connectors, both of which get translated to a
SCSI-1 connector inside. These SCSI-2 connectors are simply a pass-through,
IOW.

Toast 3.5.x did not have parameters setup for the 8824S (it did for the
earlier 4416S and 6416S), so Toast 4 is probably your best bet.

I use Toast 5, upgraded to the highest level before the OS X upgrade, as the
OS X upgrade requires a minimum of OS 9, and I'm running OS 8.6.

For one application I received a pair of SCSI-2 cables, one having a (Mac)
standard 25-pin D-sub, and the other having an (industry) standard 50-pin
Amphenol (AKA Centronics).

In this specific case, the 25-pin D-Sub went directly to the Mac, and the
50-pin Amphenol went either to the next device in the (external) device
chain, or a terminator was installed there.
