Don't know about keychain but somethings not right with Eudora.
In your Remote Access Options:
Check:
Allow error correction
Allow header compression
That speeds up the transfer in my system.

In ARA (Apple Remote Access) "Connections"
De-select: " Use verbose logging"

In Eudora Settings, "Checking Mail"
De-select "Overlap POP commands". . . if you have it selected.
