I also had many problems at first when I installed the SIIG UltraATA
133/100 controller card in my PowerMac 7300/180. I received the same
error messages that others have mentioned when trying to initialize
the IDE drives. Tried using several tools for initializing, but
always failed just when the initialization was almost complete.

I kept trying different combinations of initializing. Using the
quick format first, then low level, then zero level, then both low
level/zero level, finally was successful ! What is it with the 7300
that is so difficult using these ATA cards ?

I spent quite a bit of time talking with the SIIG technicians, and
they too had no clue what to do ? They told me that the cards should
be completely compatible. However one technician did tell me that
there were some issues/problems, but the card I have should still
work.

Both IDE drives I have installed are now working flawlessly (fingers crossed).
