Wish I could help you - and it might be easily done if you
were using Pro 3 as I am.
Sounds like you need someone with your exact version with whom
you can double-check your settings. I know absolutely nothing
about "Keychain" which you made to sound suspect a while back.

Any connection troubles I've had with Eudora installations for myself
or others were resolved by trashing the "settings" AND the "settings backup"
files as it seemed that Eudora doesn't take well to changing settings
initially established - like the prefs. failed to reflect the changes.

Do you have "Allow Error correction and compression. . ."
and "Use TCP Header Compression" CHECKED in Remote access?
Or did you say that you don't use Apple Remote Access?

My Eudora Settings:
MISCELLANEOUS: Only ones I have checked are:
Close messages with mailbox
Empty trash on quit
LOCK WHOLE PROGRAM IN MEMORY
Convert Hesiod names to lower case
Correct international sorting
Generate filter reports

Mac SLIP Check: "Disconnect MacSlip if Eudora connected it

HOSTS: Check: DNS load balancing

If your settings are all very different turn on Mac Baloon Help
which works to briefly describe every check box item in Eudora Settings.

Hope that helps.

Terry
