One thing I have used to check drive Read/Write is to copy a large .SMI file between drives several times. My current favorite is the OS 9.2.1 and OS 9.2.2 files at 80 MB and 20 MB. I have a folder with the orignals from apple, patched ones for installing on 'Old World' Macs and some assorted other files. Total is about 350 MB. If I can copy them back and forth a couple of times, and then successfully mount them after the CRC check is run, I know that there are probably no R/W errors creeping in.
