OS 8.6
Yamaha 8x4x24 SCSI-2 CDRW, using Toast 3.5.7

Once initiated it usually takes about 15-20 seconds for it to begin writing.

Copying a CD takes 5-8 minutes depending on size.

One person's slow is another's fast. ;) I'm new to CD burning, so I have no
idea whether mine would be considered slow. So far it has performed
flawlessly.
