Can one overclock the Sonnet G3/450 without physically modifying the card?

I've been informed (on the Power Computing list) that I can use the PTP's cache in my
8500's, and, depending on the height of the cache dimm, maybe in the 7500 as well.
Since the S900 cache would be wasted, this seems like a good reason to use the PTP.

Since I'm not sure what PCI cards I'll eventually be using, this seems like a very
good reason to use the PTP!

Thanks to Jeff for his detailed response, and TIA to anyone who provides further
information or ideas.
