Regarding Dean's hack using rechargeables: Any idea how long 4 AA alkalines would last? Or would they give too much voltage?
Presumably, the problem of too much voltage from four alkalines could be resolved by using somewhat used batteries! Might be a good way of getting more out of one's batteries before discarding them. But is there a danger that any of them would start to leak before the voltage dropped enough to make battery replacement necessary? - Aaron P.S. Other PowerMacs and clones use 4.5v batteries. I'm pretty sure the StarMax 4000 series does but I'm too lazy to open one of mine now! >To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PCI PowerMacs) >Date: Sat, 05 Oct 2002 14:10:24 -0600 >From: Dean Arthur <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Re: 603/200 batteries, mail order > >The Ray-O-Vac #840 4.5V/850 mA "cube" is a mail order only item at 19.99 >+ S&H from Radio Shack.
