Regarding Dean's hack using rechargeables: Any idea how long 4 AA alkalines would
last? Or would they give too much voltage?

Presumably, the problem of too much voltage from four alkalines could be resolved by
using somewhat used batteries! Might be a good way of getting more out of one's
batteries before discarding them.

But is there a danger that any of them would start to leak before the voltage dropped
enough to make battery replacement necessary?

P.S. Other PowerMacs and clones use 4.5v batteries. I'm pretty sure the StarMax 4000
series does but I'm too lazy to open one of mine now!
