I having a problem getting ethernetto work on my 5400/200.It did work with the
original OS 7.5 but I have since replaced the OS. I wiped the HD and partioned it to 2
drives, one with OS 8.0 and the other 8.6. When I try to select the ethernet from the
TCP/IP control panel it is not available the only choice is appletalk (Mac IP), If I
disable AplleTalk the TCP/IP panel won't open. The new OS 8.6 installation was done
from an iMac restore CD and everything else appears to work fine. I have a switch
router on my cable modem with 2 other systems (Mac & PC)working successfully. There is
plenty of memory as I maxed out the RAM @ 136mb. I checked the extensions folders of
both systems and they both have some sort of ethernet extension. Do I need an
extension native to the ethernet card supplied on the 5400 which I may have wiped out
during the new OS install? If you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks,
Jim
