I was just about to suggest trying out the 2500 driver then I read some of your
responses.  The 2500 driver is always installed even if you don't have that
printer.  I used to be very annoyed when I installed OS in space constricted
machines and all the printer drivers for apple printers were automatically
installed, and I had to go to the System Folder and erase some of them, however now
that I got a 1500 (I noticed you said the 2400 is an old printer, then mine is an
antique!) the files were already there and I didn't have to do anything just plug
it in and select it in the chooser (try to do that with a windows PC!).  Talk about
plug n' play this is the best plug n' play example I've seen!
