I have a PowerPC 8500/150 - 56MB/2GB - system 8.6. Recently it has
begun to pause for a second or so when opening or closing a window,
or I get the spinning ball for a few seconds when moving around
folders etc. CDs take quite a while to appear on the desktop. The
hard disk sounds like it's working much harder than previously - as
if it's doing something behind the scenes and making me wait until
it's ready. Occasionally when closing windows, they disappear by
"sliding" down the screen. It also "hangs" a lot more on hotmail (up to a
minute at a time.
I have installed Virex, Worm Scanner, run Disk First Aid, defragged, and
rebuild the desktop regularly. I have increased the cache (2016) and
>virtual memory (80MB) but with no improvement.
Could this be anything serious?
Ralph
