Andrew, I just tore my hair out for two days with a new 9.1GB drive that would not show up in System Profiler nor in any of my formatting software. It turned out that a jumper needed to be added to activate the SCSI termination. That did the trick for me. (It is a Western Digital 9.1G and the jumper goes across 23-24) Hope this helps. Joe
