Hey, folks! I've been posting questions on this board for a few weeks, trying to resolve multiple problems with my 7500, that would hardly boot up on its own and would sometimes give me double startups once I got it running, etc. Just wanted to tell you THANKS for all your help.
Actually, it's funny how simple it was. Several folks started talking about terminating the drives properly. This weekend, I found the time to pop it open. The upper deck drive was my IDE drive connected to a Sonnet card. The lower deck drive was my SCSI startup drive. I noticed that the SCSI drive was connected to the END of the SCSI cable. On my other 7500, the SCSI startup drive is in the upper deck and it's connected to the 1st SCSI connection with the end of the cable left open. I switched the SCSI connection on my problematic 7500, taking it off the end of the SCSI cable and moving it to the 1st SCSI connection on the cable. And VIOLA! I've had no problems since. I've loved to hear how this made a difference -- I don't understand, but I'm glad it works. Thanks for all your input and for getting my wheels turning in thinking through this. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
