> I have merely a 7300/180 w/ 8.6, 172 meg ram:

That is enough for the free version of Protools - for unedited
musicfiles transfered from outside I use Coaster, because you can see
the soundvolume and cut with a click, between music tracks - (no
need to stop the recordplayer)

>1.Are there any AV cards out there for this type of machine?

You dont need an AV card, just plug into the mike input from the
taped or the reciever, if possible try to run through a volumeadjust
nob (in out on a tapedeck ?)
